Capture this is a video piece that examines the translation and reconfiguration of the physical into the digital and back again. The process begins with continuous line sketches created during a live musical performance - drawings that capture the immediacy, flow and subconscious flow of the moment without looking at the paper. These sketches are inverted, duplicated, pixelated and projected, forming a digital echo of the physical act. Dance is used a medium, a vehicle for navigating the complexities of the digital sphere. Through physical movement, the work explores questions of identity, asking how the body and its emotions carry into the digital world. ‘Capture This’ reflects on the search for place, presence and bodily expression within a rapidly evolving virtual landscape.
